Eau de parfum – La Nuit…transfigurée
(The Transfigured Night)

Love and tolerance lift us up in the moonlight.

First it was a poem, then a musical composition, and now it has been "transfigured"... into a perfume.

"La Nuit Transfigurée" captures the night's charm. When the sun goes down and the city becomes quiet again, our tired minds and bodies can finally retreat into their inner selves. The night serves as a source of inspiration, a private whisper. When the night is done, we must emerge from the shadows to greet the new day.

The Transfigured Night is a mysterious and disturbing poem as well as a passionate and enthralling musical work.

Two people are walking through a bare, cold wood; the moon keeps pace with them and draws their gaze.

A woman's voice speaks: "I am carrying a child, and not by you. I am walking here with you in a state of sin. I have offended grievously against myself. I despaired of happiness. Now life has taken its revenge, and I have met you, met you."

She walks on, stumbling. She looks up; the moon keeps pace. Her dark gaze drowns in light.

A man’s voice speaks : « Do not let the child you have conceived be a burden on your soul. Look, how brightly the universe shines! Splendour falls on everything around. That warmth will transfigure the stranger’s child, and you bear it me, begot by me. You have transfused me with splendour, you have made a child of me. »

Their breath embraces in the air. Two people walk on through the high, bright night.

- Richard Dehmel (1863-1920)

Inspiration

The perfume "La Nuit Transfigurée" is inspired by the eponymous poem by the German Richard Dehmel. The Viennese composer Arnold Schönberg was also deeply moved by this work and created a magnificent string sextet from it.

Whether in poetry, music or perfume, "The Transfigured Night" evokes particular themes: transcendental love, tolerance and forgiveness, the moral judgement of society, benevolence...

The human and philosophical ideas that emerge from this work captivated Arthur K, founder of Scène Fragrance, when he first heard it. More than that, its powerfully expressive post-romantic style moved and astounded him.

So when it came time to create his own perfume brand, "La Nuit Transfigurée" naturally imposed itself.

Fragrance

Woody notes and warm vanilla for a nostalgic impression

The top notes express the anxiety evoked at the start of Schönberg's work: peppery, damp, and woody, reminiscent of an old wardrobe.

The Man accepts the Woman and Child, who are reborn together, in the moonlight. Gradually, the fragrance transitions from the anxious peppery notes to the reassuring warmth of the vanilla and woody notes. This delicate olfactory transformation has been accomplished subtly by perfumer Marie Schnirer.

    Oh I love this so..

Initial spray I did not really get much in the way of citrus notes, but it did get a little Anise (Tarragon) and the florals. The impression they left with me was “This is so Pretty!!”

As it dried down the vanilla and sandalwood came to life. The musk slowly made an appearance, but was definitely tempered by the vanilla.

This did not project overmuch, but stayed close to me for a very long time. I still smelled it on my arm the following morning.

The bottle is very beautiful and substantial. The gold metal cap is embossed with SF and so is the side of the bottle. The thought and the art in the bottle gives you a glimpse to the joy that lies within.
